The Gopis said -

loved, love in return, some,
some of this, the opposite,
not both and love some
this to us, explain well, O Lord!

O Lord! some love in return of love, some do the opposite of this, that is, love even if not loved, yet others do not do either of the two. Do explain this well to us.

The Lord said -

mutually love those who, O Friends!
self-interest alone endeavour indeed is theirs
not there is good will or virtue,
selfish motive, that surely is, not anything else

O Friends! Those who mutually love each other, their endeavour is centered in self-interest. In that there is neither good will nor virtue. The motive is solely selfish and nothing else.

love, unloved, those of course,
are compassionate, parents like
virtue also is blameless, here is
goodwill also, O Slender waisted Ones!

O Slender waisted Ones! Those who love in spite of not being loved, of course, are compassionate, like the parents. In this there is blameless virtue and good will also.

being loved also, not certainly, some
love, not loved where
they are in self revelling, indeed fulfilled of desires,
ungrateful, for the elders having enmity

Certainly, even though they are loved, some do not love, no question of those that are not loved. Some are like sages revelling in their own selves, and some have fulfilled their desires, yet others are ungrateful and also hold enmity for the elders.

not I, indeed O Friends!
loved though, the beings love
of their thoughts to incline (towards Me)
just as a poor person having got wealth,
and lost it, in it's thought,
anything full of, does not know

O Friends! I, indeed, though loved, do not love the beings, just to attract their minds towards Me. Because, a poor person, when achieves wealth and then looses it, is full of its thought and does not see anything else.

in this manner, for My sake abandoned
worldly, and Vedic rules of yours, indeed you all
in Me mind immersed, O Gopis!
by Me from a distance loved
having disappeared in Me to faults find
do not deserve, because (I am) Beloved (of you) lovers

O Gopis! it is for My sake, that, in this manner, indeed, all of you have abandoned your worldly and Vedic duties. From far, unseen, I have been loving you, and disappeared to keep your mind fixed in Me. So, you do not deserve to find fault with this act of Mine, as I am The Beloved and you are My lovers.

am not able to repay I, the unblemished
connection, by own good deed
through many ages also yours
who Me loved, the difficult
household chain snatching away,
that, you, indebt (Me) by your goodness

Even through many years, I am unable to repay by My good deeds also the unblemished connection of yours. In that, snatching asunder the difficult to be cut chain of household ties, you have loved Me. You can only make Me indebted by your innate goodness.
