Shree Shuka said -
अथ व्रजन् राजपथेन माधव: स्त्रियं गृहीताङ्गविलेपभाजनम् ।
विलोक्य कुब्जां युवतीं वराननां यान्तीं प्रहसन् रसप्रद: ॥१॥
अथ व्रजन् राज-पथेन
then, proceeding on the royal path
माधव: स्त्रियम् गृहीत-
Maadhava, a woman carrying
अङ्ग-विलेप-भाजनम्
body smearing paste (in a) vessel
विलोक्य कुब्जाम्
seeing the hunchbacked
युवतीम् वर-आननाम्
young one with comely face
यान्तीम् प्रहसन् रसप्रद:
going, laughingly (asked) The Delight Giver
Then, proceeding on the royal path, Maadhava, saw a young hunchbacked woman with a comely face carrying a vessel containing sandal paste to smear on the body. The Giver of Delight said to her laughingly,….
का त्वं वरोर्वेतदु हानुलेपनं कस्याङ्गने वा कथयस्व साधु न: ।
देह्यावयोरङ्गविलेपमुत्तमं श्रेयस्ततस्ते न चिराद् भविष्यति ॥२॥
का त्वम् वरोरु-एतत्-उ
'who you are handsome woman? this and
ह-अनुलेपनम् कस्य-अङ्गने
indeed smearing paste for whose, O Dear One!
वा कथयस्व साधु न:
or, do say the truth to us
देहि-आवयो:-अङ्ग-विलेपम्-
give to us, the body smearing paste
उत्तमम् श्रेय:-तत:-ते
very good, good after that of you
न चिरात् भविष्यति
before long will be'
'O Handsome woman, who are you? For whom is this body smearing very good paste? Do tell the truth, and give some of it to us. After that, O Dear One! Before long, good will betide you.'
सैरन्ध्री-उवाच -
Sairandhree said -
दास्याम्यहं सुन्दर कंससम्मता त्रिवक्रनामा ह्यनुलेपकर्मणि ।
मद्भावितं भोजपतेरतिप्रियं विना युवां कोऽन्यतमस्तदर्हति ॥३॥
दास्यामि-अहम् सुन्दर
'will give you! O Charming One!
कंस-सम्मता त्रिवक्रनामा
by Kansa employed, Trivakra named
हि-अनुलेप-कर्मणि
in indeed smearing paste work
मत्-भावितम् भोज-पते:-
by me made, the Bhoja king's
अति-प्रियम् विना युवाम्
very dear, besides You Two
क:-अन्यतम:-तत्-अर्हति
who else that deserves?'
'O Charming One! I will give it to You. Employed by Kansa in the work of smearing paste making, I am Trivakra by name. Indeed, this paste made by me, dear to the Bhoja king, other than You Two, who else deserves?'
रूपपेशलमाधुर्यहसितालापवीक्षितै: ।
धर्षितात्मा ददौ सान्द्रमुभयोरनुलेपनम् ॥४॥
रूप-पेशल-माधुर्य-
by good looks, delicate form, sweet
हसित-आलाप-वीक्षितै:
laughter, words, and glances,
धर्षित-आत्मा ददौ
bewitched minded gave
सान्द्रम्-उभयो:-अनुलेपनम्
thick, to Them Both, the paste
Bewitched minded by Their good looks, delicate form, sweet words and laughter and glances, she gave Them Both the thick paste.
ततस्तावङ्गरागेण स्ववर्णेतरशोभिना ।
सम्प्राप्तपरभागेन शुशुभातेऽनुरञ्जितौ ॥५॥
तत:-तौ-अङ्ग-रागेण
then, They, by smearing paste,
स्व-वर्ण-इतर-शोभिना
from Their own complexion, other beautified
सम्प्राप्त-पर-भागेन
applied on above the navel,
शुशुभाते-अनुरञ्जितौ
shone adorned
Then, They smeared by that paste on the upper part of the body, shone charmingly with a different complexion than Their own.
प्रसन्नौ भगवान् कुब्जां त्रिवक्रां रुचिराननाम् ।
ऋज्वीं कर्तुं मनश्चक्रे दर्शयन् दर्शने फलम् ॥६॥
प्रसन्नौ भगवान् कुब्जाम्
pleased, The Lord, the hunchbacked
त्रिवक्राम् रुचिर-आननाम्
in three places bent, charming faced,
ऋज्वीम् कर्तुम् मन:-चक्रे
straight to do, mind made up
दर्शयन् दर्शने फलम्
exhibiting His sight's reward
The Lord, pleased with her, made up His mind to straighten, her, bent in three places, the hunchbacked woman, with a charming face. Thus exhibiting the reward of His sight.
पद्भ्यामाक्रम्य प्रपदे द्व्यङ्गुल्युत्तानपाणिना ।
प्रगृह्य चुबुकेऽध्यात्ममुदनीनमदच्युत: ॥७॥
पद्भ्याम्-आक्रम्य प्रपदे
by His two feet pressing (her) fore foot
द्वि-अङ्गुलि-उत्तान-पाणिना
by the two fingers of the upturned hand
प्रगृह्य चुबुके-अध्यात्मम्-उत्-
holding the chin of His own, indeed
अनीनमत्-अच्युत:
lifted up, The immortal Lord
The immortal Lord by his two feet, pressed the forefoot of the lady, and placing his two fingers of the right upturned hand, held her chin and pulled her up.
सा तदर्जुसमानङ्गी बृहच्छ्रोणिपयोधरा ।
मुकुन्दस्पर्शनात् सद्यो बभूव प्रमदोत्तमा ॥८॥
सा तत्-ऋजु-समान-अङ्गी
she, by that, straight with symmetrical body,
बृहत्-श्रोणि-पयोधरा
bulky hips, full breasts,
मुकुन्द-स्पर्शनात्
by Mukunda's touch
सद्य: बभूव प्रमदा-उत्तमा
instantly became beautiful woman most
She, by that touch of Mukunda, instantly became the most beautiful woman with straight and symmetrical body, bulky hips and full breasts.
ततो रूपगुणौदार्यसम्पन्ना प्राह केशवम् ।
उत्तरीयान्तमाकृष्य स्मयन्ती जातहृच्छया ॥९॥
तत: रूप-गुण-औदार्य-
then, with beauty, and good qualities wealth
सम्पन्ना प्राह केशवम्
adorned with, said to Keshava,
उत्तरीय-अन्तम्-आकृष्य
upper garment's end pulling,
स्मयन्ती जात-हृत्-क्षया
smilingly, enkindled in the heart love fire
Then, she endowed with the wealth of beauty and good qualities, with her heart enkindled with love, pulled the upper garment of Keshava, and smilingly said to Him,….
एहि वीर गृहं यामो न त्वां त्यक्तुमिहोत्सहे ।
त्वयोन्मथितचित्ताया: प्रसीद पुरुषर्षभ ॥१०॥
एहि वीर गृहम् याम:
'Come, O Gallant Yong man! to the house let us go
न त्वाम् त्यक्तुम्-इह-उत्सहे
not You to leave here I am able
त्वया-उन्मथित-चित्ताया:
by You impatient minded I,
प्रसीद पुरुष-ऋषभ
Be gracious, O Jewel among men!
'Come, O Gallant Yong man! let us go to the house. I am not able to leave You here. O Jewel among men! Be gracious, to me, whose mind is made turbulent by You.
एवं स्त्रिया याच्यमान: कृष्णो रामस्य पश्यत: ।
मुखं वीक्ष्यानुगानां च प्रहसंस्तामुवाच ह ॥११॥
एवम् स्त्रिया याच्यमान:
thus, by the woman requested,
कृष्ण: रामस्य पश्यत:
Krishna, as Balaraama looked on,
मुखम् वीक्ष्य-अनुगानाम् च
face looking at of the followers and
प्रहसन्-ताम्-उवाच ह
laughingly to her said indeed,…
Thus requested by the woman, as Balaraama was looking on, He looked at the faces of His followers and laughingly said to her,…
एष्यामि ते गृहं सुभ्रु: पुंसामाधिविकर्शनम् ।
साधितार्थोऽगृहाणां न: पान्थानां त्वं परायणम् ॥१२॥
एष्यामि ते गृहम् सुभ्रु:
will come to you house, O beautiful eye-browed!
पुंसाम्-आधि-विकर्शनम्
of the people the agony to withdraw
साधित-अर्थ:-अगृहाणाम् न:
to accomplish is the purpose, of homeless, us,
पान्थानाम् त्वम् परायणम्
travellers, you are the shelter
'O beautiful eye-browed girl! I will come to your house. The withdrawing the agony of the people to accomplish, is the purpose of we the travellers. You are the shelter for us the homeless travellers.'
विसृज्य माध्व्या वाण्या तां व्रजन् मार्गे वणिक्पथै: ।
नानोपायनताम्बूलस्रग्गन्धै: साग्रजोऽर्चित: ॥१३॥
विसृज्य माध्व्या वाण्या ताम्
dispersing with honeyed words, her,
मार्गे वणिक्-पथै:
on the mercantile path
नाना-उपायन-ताम्बूल-स्रक्-
with various gifts, beetles, garlands
गन्धै: स-अग्रज:-अर्चित:
perfumes, with His elder brother, was worshipped
After having dispersed her with honeyed words, Shree Krishna proceeded on the mercantile path. He was worshipped along with His elder brother with various gifts, beetle nut, areca leaves, garlands, perfumes, by the merchants.
तद्दर्शनस्मरक्षोभादात्मानं नाविदन् स्त्रिय: ।
विस्रस्तवास:कबरवलयालेख्यमूर्तय: ॥१४॥
तत्-दर्शन-स्मर-क्षोभात्-
by (His) sight, by love agitated
आत्मानम् न-अविदन् स्त्रिय:
themselves did not know the women,
विस्रस्त-वास: कबर-वलय-
unsettled garments, braids and bangles,
आलेख्य-मूर्तय:
painted statues
The women of Mathura were so agitated with love by His sight, that they did not know of their unsettled garments, loosened braids or bangles. They looked like painted statues.
तत: पौरान् पृच्छमानो धनुष: स्थानमच्युत: ।
तस्मिन् प्रविष्टो ददृषे धनुरैन्द्रमिवाद्भुतम् ॥१५॥
तत: पौरान् पृच्छमान:
then, the citizens enquiring
धनुष: स्थानम्-अच्युत:
the bow's place, The Immortal Lord
तस्मिन् प्रविष्ट: ददृषे
in that entered, saw
धनु:-ऐन्द्रम्-इव-अद्भुतम्
the bow rainbow like wonderful
Then, The Immortal Lord enquired the citizens about where the place of the bow was. Then He entered there and saw the bow, which was as wonderful as a rainbow.
पुरुषैर्बहुभिर्गुप्तमर्चितं परमर्द्धिमत् ।
वार्यमाणो नृभि: कृष्ण: प्रसह्य धनुराददे ॥१६॥
पुरुषै:-बहुभि:-गुप्तम्-
by men, many, guarded,
अर्चितम् परम-ऋद्धिमत्
worshipped, with a large fortune,
वार्यमाण: नृभि: कृष्ण:
stopped by the men, Shree Krishna
प्रसह्य धनु:-आददे
forcibly the bow lifted
The bow which was attended by a large fortune, was guarded by many men and was duly worshipped. Though stopped by the men, Shree Krishna forcibly lifted up the bow.
करेण वामेन सलीलमुद्धृतं सज्यं च कृत्वा निमिषेण पश्यताम् ।
नृणां विकृष्य प्रबभञ्ज मध्यतो यथेक्षुदण्डं मदकर्युरुक्रम: ॥१७॥
करेण वामेन सलीलम्-
with the hand left sportingly,
उद्धृतम् सज्यम् च कृत्वा
lifted, stringing and doing
निमिषेण पश्यताम् नृणाम्
in a moment as looked on the people,
विकृष्य प्रबभञ्ज मध्यत:
pulled and broke in the middle,
यथा-ईक्षु-दण्डम्
like a sugarcane staff,
मद-करि-उरुक्रम:
infatuated elephant, of immense power
Shree Krishna, of Immense power, had lifted the bow sportingly in the left hand, strung it and pulled it, and broke it in the middle, just as an intoxicated elephant would break a staff of a sugarcane.
धनुषो भज्यमानस्य शब्द: खं रोदसी दिश: ।
पूरयामास यं श्रुत्वा कंसस्त्रासमुपागमत् ॥१८॥
धनुष: भज्यमानस्य
of the bow, broken,
शब्द: खम् रोदसी दिश:
the sound, the sky, the earth, the directions
पूरयामास यम् श्रुत्वा
filled, which hearing
कंस:-त्रासम्-उपागमत्
Kansa with fear was seized
As the bow broke, the heavens, earth and the four directions were filled with its terrible sound, hearing which Kansa was seized with fear.
तद्रक्षिण: सानुचरा: कुपिता आततायिन: ।
ग्रहीतुकामा आवव्रुर्गृह्यतां बध्यतामिति ॥१९॥
तत्-रक्षिण: स-अनुचरा:
its custodians, with their servants,
कुपिता: आततायिन:
enraged, torturous,
ग्रहीतुकामा: आवव्रु:-
eager to catch hold of Him, shouted,
गृह्यताम् बध्यताम्-इति
'Catch! Bind Him!' thus
The torturous custodians of the bow, along with their servants, were enraged, and eager to catch hold of Him, shouted, 'Catch Him! Bind Him!' thus.
अथ तान् दुरभिप्रायान् विलोक्य बलकेशवौ ।
क्रुद्धौ धन्वन आदाय शकले तांश्च जघ्नतु: ॥२०॥
अथ तान् दुरभिप्रायान्
after that, them, the foul intentioned
विलोक्य बल-केशवौ
observing, Balaraama and Keshava,
क्रुद्धौ धन्वन: आदाय
enraged (Both) by the bow's taking
शकले तान्-च जघ्नतु:
two pieces, them and killed
After that, Balaraama and Krishna observing them, the foul intentioned, were enraged and taking the two pieces of the bow, killed them.
बलं च कंसप्रहितं हत्वा शालामुखात्तत: ।
निष्क्रम्य चेरतुर्हृष्टौ निरीक्ष्य पुरसम्पद: ॥२१॥
बलम् च कंस-प्रहितम्
soldiers and by Kansa sent,
हत्वा शाला-मुखात्-तत:
killing, from the hall's entrance, then,
निष्क्रम्य चेरतु:-हृष्टौ
coming out, went about happily
निरीक्ष्य पुर-सम्पद:
seeing the city's wealth
Then, They having killed the soldiers sent by Kansa, came out of the entrance of that hall and went about happily looking at the wealth of the city.
तयोस्तदद्भुतं वीर्यं निशाम्य पुरवासिन: ।
तेज: प्रागल्भ्यं रूपं च मेनिरे विबुधोतमौ ॥२२॥
तयो:-तत्-अद्भुतम् वीर्यम्
Theirs' that wonderful prowess
निशाम्य पुर-वासिन:
perceiving, the citizens
तेज: प्रागल्भ्यम् रूपम् च
splendour, indomitable spirit, comeliness, and
मेनिरे विबुध-उतमौ
took (Them to be) two gods foremost
The citizen, perceiving Their wonderful prowess, splendour, indomitable spirit and comeliness, understood Them to be two foremost gods.
तयोर्विचरतो: स्वैर्मादित्योऽस्तमुपेयिवान् ।
कृष्णरामौ वृतौ गोपै: पुराच्छकटमीयतु: ॥२३॥
तयो:-विचरतो: स्वैरम्-
Them roaming at will,
आदित्य:-अस्तम्-उपेयिवान्
the Sun to set started
कृष्ण-रामौ वृतौ गोपै:
Krishna and Balaraama surrounded by the Gopas,
पुरात्-शकटम्-ईयतु:
from the city, to the cart returned
As They were roaming about at will, the Sun started to set, and Krishna and Balaraama, surrounded by the cowherds, from the city, returned to the cart.
गोप्यो मुकुन्दविगमे विरहातुरा या आशासताशिष ऋता मधुपुर्यभूवन् ।
सम्पश्यतां पुरुषभूषणगात्रलक्ष्मीं हित्वेतरान् नु भजतश्चकमेऽयनं श्री: ॥२४॥
गोप्य: मुकुन्द-विगमे
the Gopis, on Mukunda's departure
विरह-आतुरा: या:
by separation agonised, those (which)
आशासत-आशिष:
had said words
ऋता: मधुपुरि-अभूवन्
true, in Madhu puri became
सम्पश्यताम् पुरुष-भूषण-
for the on-lookers (of Mathura), of men The Jewel,
गात्र-लक्ष्मीम् हित्वा-
personality elegant, leaving
इतरान् नु भजत:-
others indeed, coveting
चकमे-अयनम् श्री:
made abode Laxmi
The words which the Gopis in agony by separation, had said at the time of Shree Krishna's departure, became true in Mathura, for those people who gazed at the elegant personality of Shree Krishna, which is coveted by Laxmi and Who has made That Her abode.
अवनिक्ताङ्घ्रियुगलौ भुक्त्वा क्षीरोपसेवनम् ।
ऊषतुस्तां सुखं रात्रिं ज्ञात्वा कंसचिकीर्षितम् ॥२५॥
अवनिक्त-अङ्घ्रि-युगलौ
having washed the feet, Both,
भुक्त्वा क्षीर-उपसेवनम्
having eaten rice with milk and sugar, for food,
ऊषतु:-ताम् सुखम् रात्रिम्
slept, that peacefully, night ,
ज्ञात्वा कंस-चिकीर्षितम्
(after) knowing Kansa's intention
Both of them having washed Their feet, and having eaten rice milk and sugar for food, They slept peacefully that night, after knowing the intention of Kansa.
कंसस्तु धनुषो भङ्गं रक्षिणां स्वबलस्य च ।
वधं निशम्य गोविन्दरामविक्रीडितं परम् ॥२६॥
कंस:-तु धनुष: भङ्गम्
Kansa, where as, the bow's breaking
रक्षिणाम् स्व-बलस्य च
the custodians and own warriors'
वधम् निशम्य गोविन्द-
slaying on hearing, Govinda and
राम-विक्रीडितम् परम्
Balaraama's child's play mere
Whereas, Kansa, having heard of the breaking of the bow and the slaying of its guards and his own warriors, which was a mere child's play for Govinda and Balaraama, was perturbed.
दीर्घप्रजागरो भीतो दुर्निमित्तानि दुर्मति: ।
बहून्यचष्टोभयथा मृत्योर्दौत्यकराणि च ॥२७॥
दीर्घ-प्रजागर: भीत:
for long keeping awake, afraid,
दुर्निमित्तानि दुर्मति:
the evil forebodings, the evil minded
बहूनि-अचष्ट-उभयथा
many saw, in both states (awaking and dreaming),
मृत्यो:-दौत्यकराणि च
of death evil signals and
He kept awake for a long time and the evil minded saw many evil forebodings, and in both the states of awaking and dreaming, he saw signals of death.
अदर्शनं स्वशिरस: प्रतिरूपे च सत्यपि ।
असत्यपि द्वितीये च द्वैरूप्यं ज्योतिषां तथा ॥२८॥
अदर्शनम् स्व-शिरस:
the non visibility of his own head
प्रतिरूपे च सत्यपि
in the reflection, and in the mirror
असत्यपि द्वितीये च
and without mirror, of the other and
द्वै-रूप्यम् ज्योतिषाम् तथा
two images, of the luminaries also
His own head was invisible to him in the mirror reflection or otherwise. And other forms were seen as two images, even of the luminaries.
छिद्रप्रतीतिश्छायायां प्राणघोषानुपश्रुति: ।
स्वर्णप्रतीतिर्वृक्षेषु स्वपदानामदर्शनम् ॥२९॥
छिद्र-प्रतीति:-छायायाम्
holes seemed in the shadow,
प्राण-घोष-अनुपश्रुति:
the breaths' resounding was not heard,
स्वर्ण-प्रतीति:-वृक्षेषु
golden looked the trees,
स्व-पदानाम्-अदर्शनम्
own foot prints were not seen
He seemed to see holes in his shadow, he could not hear the resounding of his breath, the trees looked golden to him, and he could not see his own foot prints.
स्वप्ने प्रेतपरिष्वङ्ग: खरयानं विषादनम् ।
यायान्नलदमाल्येकस्तैलाभ्यक्तो दिगम्बर: ॥३०॥
स्वप्ने प्रेत-परिष्वङ्ग:
in dream, by the deceased embraced,
खर-यानम् विष-अदनम्
donkey riding, poison eating,
यायात्-नलद-माली-एक:-
went, china rose garlanded, alone
तैल-आभ्यक्त: दिगम्बर:
oil smeared, unclad
In the dream he saw himself being embraced by the deceased, riding a donkey, eating poison, going about alone with a china rose garland, body smeared with oil, unclad.
अन्यानि चेत्थं भूतानि स्वप्नजागरितानि च ।
पश्यन् मरणसन्त्रस्तो निद्रां लेभे न चिन्तया ॥३१॥
अन्यानि च-इत्थम्-भूतानि
others and such like, happening,
स्वप्न-जागरितानि च
in dream and waking
पश्यन् मरण-सन्त्रस्त:
seeing, death afraid of
निद्राम् लेभे न चिन्तया
sleep got not, worrying
Seeing such scenes in waking and dream state, he was terribly worried of death and did not sleep, worrying.
व्युष्टायां निशि कौरव्य सूर्ये चाद्भ्य: समुत्थिते ।
कारयामास वै कंसो मल्लक्रीडामहोत्सवम् ॥३२॥
व्युष्टायाम् निशि कौरव्य
having passed the night, O scion of the Kurus!
सूर्ये च-अद्भ्य: समुत्थिते
Sun and from the oceans having risen,
कारयामास वै कंस:
conducted indeed Kansa
मल्ल-क्रीडा-महा-उत्सवम्
wrestling game's grand festival
O scion of the Kurus! the night having passed, and the Sun having risen from the ocean waters, Kamas got the grand festival of wrestling match conducted.
आनर्चु: पुरुषा रङ्गं तूर्यभेर्यश्च जघ्निरे ।
मञ्चाश्चालङ्कृता: स्रग्भि: पताकाचैलतोरणै: ॥३३॥
आनर्चु: पुरुषा: रङ्गम्
decorated the people, the arena
तूर्य-भेर्य:-च जघ्निरे
trumpets and tabors were sounded,
मञ्चा:-च-अलङ्कृता:
the galleries were adorned
स्रग्भि: पताका:-चैल-तोरणै:
with garlands, festoons, tapestries, and arches
Kansa's men decorated the arena, trumpets and tabors were sounded, the galleries were adorned with garlands, festoons, tapestries and arches.
तेषु पौरा जानपदा ब्रह्मक्षत्रपुरोगमा: ।
यथोपजोषं विविशू राजानश्च कृतासना: ॥३४॥
तेषु पौरा: जानपदा:
in them, the citizens, the country men
ब्रह्म-क्षत्र-पुरोगमा:
by Braahmanas and Kshatriyas citizens leading
यथा-उपजोषम् विविशु:
as per authority sat
राजान:-च कृत-आसना:
the kings and on the made thrones
The citizens, country men, the leading citizens, headed by the Braahmanas and the Kshatriyas sat, as per authority. The kings sat on the thrones made for them.
कंस: परिवृतोऽमात्यै राजमञ्च उपाविशत् ।
मन्डलेश्वर मध्यस्थो हृदयेन विदूयता ॥३५॥
कंस: परिवृत:-अमात्यै
Kansa surrounded by the ministers,
राज-मञ्चे उपाविशत्
on the royal throne sat
मन्डल-ईश्वर मध्यस्थ:
the feudal lords' middle of
हृदयेन विदूयता
in the heart aching
Kansa surrounded by his ministers sat on the royal dais, in the midst of the feudal lords with an aching heart.
वाद्यमानेषु तूर्येषु मल्लतालोत्तरेषु च ।
मल्ला: स्वलङ्कृता दृप्ता: सोपाध्याया: समाविशन् ॥३६॥
वाद्यमानेषु तूर्येषु
as sounded were the trumpets,
मल्ल-ताल-उत्तरेषु च
the wrestlers clapping in answer and
मल्ला: सु-अलङ्कृता: दृप्ता:
the wrestlers well adorned proud,
स-उपाध्याया: समाविशन्
with majesty entered
As the trumpets were sounded, interspersed with the clapping of the wrestlers, the well adorned proud wrestlers entered majestically.
चाणूरो मुष्टिक: कूट: शलस्तोशल एव च ।
त आसेदुरुपस्थानं वल्गुवाद्यप्रहर्षिता: ॥३७॥
चाणूर: मुष्टिक: कूट:
Chanoora, Mushtika, Koota,
शल:-तोशल: एव च
Shala, Toshala also and
ते आसेदु:-उपस्थानम्
they sat in the arena,
वल्गु-वाद्य-प्रहर्षिता:

Chanoora, Mushtika, Koota, Shala, and also Toshala sat in the arena excited by the stirring sounds of the instruments.
नन्दगोपादयो गोपा भोजराजसमाहुता: ।
निवेदितोपायनास्ते एकस्मिन् मञ्च आविशन् ॥३८॥
नन्द-गोप-आदय: गोपा:
Nanda Gopa and other Gopas,
भोज-राज समाहुता:
by the Bhoja king invited,
निवेदित-उपायना:-ते
having offered gifts, they,
एकस्मिन् मञ्चे आविशन्
on one stage sat
Specially invited by the king of the Bhojas, the Gopas, headed by Nanda Gopa and the other Gopas, sat on another stage, after having offered their gifts.
इति श्रीमद्भागवते महापुराणे पारमहंस्यां संहितायां दशमस्कन्धे पूर्वार्धे मल्लरङ्गोपवर्णनम् नाम द्विचत्वारिंश: अध्याय: ॥४२॥
Thus ends the forty-second discourse entitled 'A description of the amphitheatre for wrestlers (set up by Kansa)', in the first half of Book Ten of the great and glorious Bhaagavata-Puraana.
