Shree Shuka said -
अपश्यतां अनिरुद्धं तद्बन्धूनां च भारत ।
चत्वारो वार्षिका मासा व्यतीयुरनुशोचताम् ॥१॥

O Scion of Bharata! Not seeing Aniruddha, and missing him badly, his friends and relatives passed four months of rainy season.
नारदात्तदुपाकर्ण्य वार्तां बद्धस्य कर्म च ।
प्रययु: शोणितपुरं वृष्णय: कृष्णदेवता: ॥२॥

from Naarada, that hearing
वार्ताम् बद्धस्य कर्म च
the story of his bondage and deed,

went to Shonitpura

Vrishnees, Krishna being their diety
The Vrishnees, whose diety was Krishna, had heard from Naarada, the story of Aniruddha's bondage and his deed, so they went to Shonitpura.
प्रद्युम्नो युयुधानश्च गद: साम्बोऽथ सारण: ।
नन्दोपनन्दभद्राद्या रामकृष्णानुवर्तिन: ॥३॥

अक्षौहिणीभिर्द्वादशभि: समेता: सर्वतोदिशम् ।
रुरुधुर्बाणनगरं समन्तात् सात्वतर्षभा: ॥४॥

Akshauhinee twelve,
समेता: सर्वत:-दिशम्
accompanied with, on all sides

siezed Baana's city

the Yadu scions
Accompanied with twelve Akshauhinee armies, the scions of Yadus, siezed Baana's city Shonitpura, all around on all sides.
भज्यमानपुरोद्यानप्राकाराट्टालगोपुरम् ।
प्रेक्षमाणो रुषाविष्टस्तुल्यसैन्योऽभिनिर्ययौ ॥५॥
भज्यमान-पुर-उद्यान-
breaking down the city gardens,
प्राकार-अट्टाल-गोपुरम्
boundery walls, towers and gates,
प्रेक्षमाण: रुषा-आविष्ट:-
beholding, with anger overcome,
तुल्य-सैन्य:-
equal army (comissioned)
अभिनिर्ययौ
and set forth
Baana, beheld the breaking down of the gardens, boundry walls, towers and gates of the city, and overcome with anger, commissioned an equally strong army and set forth.
बाणार्थे भगवान् रुद्र: ससुतै: प्रमथैर्वृत: ।
आरुह्य नन्दिवृषभं युयुधे रामकृष्णयो: ॥६॥
बाण-अर्थे
for Baana's sake,
भगवान् रुद्र:
Lord Shiva
स-सुतै: प्रमथै:-वृत:
with His sons, and followers accompanied,
आरुह्य नन्दि-वृषभम्
mounted on Nandi the bull,
युयुधे राम-कृष्णयो:
faught with Balaraama and Krishna
For the sake of Baana, Lord Shiva came mounted on the bull, Nandi, accompanied by His sons and followers and faught with Balaraama and Krishna.
आसीत् सुतुमुलं युद्धमद्भुतं रोमहर्षणम् ।
कृष्णशङ्करयो राजन् प्रद्युम्नगुहयोरपि ॥७॥
आसीत् सुतुमुलम् युद्धम्-
there was a terrible encounter
अद्भुतम् रोम-हर्षणम्
astounding and horripilating
कृष्ण-शङ्करयो:
(between) Krishna and Shankar,

O King!
प्रद्युम्न-गुहयो:-अपि
between Pradyumna an Kartikeya also
O King! a terrible astounding and horripilating encounter took place there, between Krishna and Shankara, and between Pradyumna and Kaartikeya also.
कुम्भाण्डकूपकर्णाभ्यां बलेन सह संयुग: ।
साम्बस्य बाणपुत्रेण बाणेन सह सात्यके: ॥८॥

There was a combat of Kumbhaanda and Koopkarna with Balaraama, and of Saamba with Baana's son, and of Baana with Saatyaki.
ब्रह्मादय: सुराधीशा मुनय: सिद्धचारणा: ।
गन्धर्वाप्सरसो यक्षा विमानैर्द्रष्टुमागमन् ॥९॥

Brahmaa and other, gods' rulers,
मुनय: सिद्ध-चारणा:
sages, Siddhas and Chaaranas,
गन्धर्व-अप्सरस:
Gandharvas, Apsaras,

द्रष्टुम्-आगमन्
to see came
Brahmaa and other rulers of gods, sages, Siddhas and Chaaranas, Gandharvas, Apsaras, and Yakshas came by ariel cars to see that.
शङ्करानुचराञ्छौरिर्भूतप्रमथगुह्यकान् ।
डाकिनीर्यातुधानांश्च वेतालान् सविनायकान् ॥१०॥

Krishna expelled the attendents of Shankara, the Bhootas, Pramathas, Guhyakas, Daakinees, Yatudhaanas, Vetaalas along with the Vinaayakas.
प्रेतमातृपिशाचांश्च कूष्माण्डान् ब्रह्मराक्षसान् ।
द्रावयामास तीक्ष्णाग्रै: शरै: शार्ङ्गधनुश्च्युतै: ॥११॥
प्रेत-मातृ-पिशाचान्-च

The Pretas, Maatris, Pishaachas, Kushmaandas, Brahmaraakshasa, were put to flight by the sharp edged arrows, charged from the Shaarang bow.
पृथग्विधानि प्रायुङ्क्त पिनाक्यस्त्राणि शार्ङ्गिणे ।
प्रत्यस्त्रै: शमयामास शार्ङ्गपाणिरविस्मित: ॥१२॥

Shaarangapaani (Krishna) unperturbed
Pinaakee (Shankara) discharged various weapons on the Shaaranga (bow) wielder (Krishna), Who, unperturbed, subdued them with counter attacks.
ब्रह्मास्त्रस्य च ब्रह्मास्त्रं वायव्यस्य च पार्वतम् ।
आग्नेयस्य च पार्जन्यं नैजं पाशुपतस्य च ॥१३॥
ब्रह्मास्त्रस्य च ब्रह्मास्त्रम्
of Brahmaastra and to Brahmaastra,
वायव्यस्य च पार्वतम्
of Vayavya and to Paarvata,
आग्नेयस्य च पार्जन्यम्
of the fire missile and to Paarajanya
नैजम् पाशुपतस्य च
of own (Naaraayanaastra) to Paashupata and
Krishna employed the Brahmaastra against to Brahmaastra, and Vaayavya to Paarvata, the fire missile to Paarajanya, and his own (Naaraayanaastra) to Paashupataastra.
मोहयित्वा तु गिरिशं जृम्भणास्त्रेण जृम्भितम् ।
बाणस्य पृतनां शौरिर्जघानासिगदेषुभि: ॥१४॥
मोहयित्वा तु गिरिशम्
rendering non-plussed indeed Shakara,

Baanaasura's army

Shauree (Krishna) killed
असि-गद-इषुभि:
with sword, mace and arrows
Krishna rendered Shankara non-plussed, indeed, by making Shankara yawn with the yawning missile. Then, Shauree, Krishna killed the army of Baanasura with sword,mace and arrows.
स्कन्द: प्रद्युम्नबाणौघैरर्द्यमान: समन्तत: ।
असृग् विमुञ्चन् गात्रेभ्य: शिखिनापाक्रमद् रणात् ॥१५॥

असृग् विमुञ्चन् गात्रेभ्य:
blood flowing from the body,
शिखिना-अपाक्रमद् रणात्
by the peacock fled from the battle
Kartikeya was very much tormented by the volleys of arrows sent by Pradyumna. Blood was flowing from his body and he fled from the battle mounted on the peacock.
कुम्भाण्ड: कूपकर्णश्च पेततुर्मुसलार्दितौ ।
दुद्रुवुस्तदनीकानि हतनाथानि सर्वत: ॥१६॥
कुम्भाण्ड: कूपकर्ण:-च
Kumbhaanda and Koopakarna
पेततु:-मुसल-अर्दितौ
fell down, by the pestle struck
दुद्रुवु:-तत्-अनीकानि
fled his army
हत-नाथानि सर्वत:
with killed generals, everywhere
Struck by Balaraama's pestle, Kumbhaanda and Koopakarna fell down dead. With there generals killed, the army fled every where.
विशीर्यमाणं स्वबलं दृष्ट्वा बाणोऽत्यमर्षण: ।
कृष्णमभ्यद्रवत् संख्ये रथी हित्वैव सात्यकिम् ॥१७॥

Banaasura was greatly agitated seeing his troops disperesed. In that battle, he chased Krishna in a chariot, leaving behind Saatyakee.
धनूंष्याकृष्य युगपद् बाण: पञ्चशतानि वै ।
एकैकस्मिञ्छरौ द्वौ द्वौ सन्दधे रणदुर्मद: ॥१८॥

In the battle, the wild Baanaa, drew hundred bows at a time, indeed, and applied two arrows on each of them.
तानि चिच्छेद भगवान् धनूंषि युगपद्-हरि: ।
सारथिं रथमश्वांश्च हत्वा शङ्खमपूरयत् ॥१९॥
तानि चिच्छेद

The Lord the bows,

the charioteer, the chariot
अश्वान्-च हत्वा
the horses and shattering,
शङ्खम्-अपूरयत्

The Lord Shree Hari, shattered them all at a time. Then, shattering the charioteer, the chariot, and the horses, He blew into the conch.
तन्माता कोटरा नाम नग्ना मुक्तशिरोरुहा ।
पुरोऽवतस्थे कृष्णस्य पुत्रप्राणरिरक्षया ॥२०॥

Kotaraa named, bare bodied,
मुक्त-शिरोरुहा
with open hair
पुर:-अवतस्थे कृष्णस्य
in front stood of Krishna,
पुत्र-प्राण-रिरक्षया
son's life wanting to save
Baanaa's mother Kotaraa by name, came bare bodied, with dishevelled hair and stood before Krishna, wanting to save her son's life.
ततस्तिर्यङ्मुखो नग्नामनिरीक्षन् गदाग्रज: ।
बाणस्य तावद् विरथश्छिन्नधन्वाविशत् पुरम् ॥२१॥
तत:-तिर्यङ्मुख:
then, turned face
नग्नाम्-अनिरीक्षन्
the naked not seeing
गदा-अग्रज:
Gada's elder brother,
बाणस्य तावद्
Baana's then,
विरथ:-छिन्न-धन्वा-
chariotless, broken bows,
आविशत् पुरम्
entered the city
Not wanting to see the naked woman, Gada's elder brother, Krishna, turned away His face. Baana, then without a chariot and with the bows broken, went away to the city.
विद्राविते भूतगणे ज्वरस्तु त्रिशिरास्त्रिपात् ।
अभ्यधावत् दाशार्हं दहन्निव दिशो दश ॥२२॥
विद्राविते भूतगणे
on having been made to flee, the Bhuta hosts,
ज्वर:-तु त्रिशिरा:-त्रिपात्
Jwara, indeed, with three heads and three legs,
अभ्यधावत् दाशार्हम्
ran after the Dasharaha, Krishna,
दहन्-इव दिश: दश
burning as if the direction ten
On the hosts of the Bhutas, having made to flee, Jwara, with three heads and three legs, rushed towards Gaasharha, Krishna, as if burning the ten directions.
अथ नारायणो देवस्तं दृष्ट्वा व्यसृजज्ज्वरम् ।
माहेश्वरो वैष्णवश्च युयुधाते जवरावुभौ ॥२३॥
अथ नारायण:
then, Naaraayana
देव:-तम् दृष्ट्वा
The Lord, Him, beholding,
व्यसृजत्-ज्वरम्
sent forth Jwara,
माहेश्वर: वैष्णव:-च
the Maaheshvara, Vaishnava and
युयुधाते जवरौ-उभौ
faught the Jwaras both
On beholding him, Naaraayana, Krishna, sent forth His own Jwara. Then, the Maaheshwara and the Vaishnava Jwaras, both started to fight.
माहेश्वर: समाक्रन्दन् वैष्णवेन बलार्दित: ।
अलब्ध्वाभयमन्यत्र भीतो माहेश्वरो ज्वर: ।
शरणार्थी हृषीकेशं तुष्टाव प्रयताञ्जलि:॥२४॥

वैष्णवेन बल-अर्दित:
by the Vaishnawa's power crushed
अलब्ध्वा-अभयम्-अन्यत्र
not getting respite anywhere

afraid, the Maaheshwara Jwara
शरणार्थी हृषीकेशम्
shelter saught in Hrishikesha, Krishna,
तुष्टाव प्रयत-अञ्जलि:
praised Him with folded hands
The Maaheshwara (Jwara) screamed when crushed by the power of Vaishnawa Jwara. Not getting respite anywhere else, scared, the Maaheshwara Jwara saught shelter in Hrishikesha, Krishna, and exolted Him with folded hands.
ज्वर उवाच -
नमामि त्वानन्तशक्तिं परेशं सर्वात्मानं केवलं ज्ञप्तिमात्रम् ।
विश्वोत्पत्तिस्थानसंरोधहेतुं यत्तद् ब्रह्म ब्रह्मलिङ्गं प्रशान्तं ॥२५॥
नमामि त्वा-
I bow down to You
अनन्त-शक्तिम् परेशम्
of infinite power, of all The Ruler
सर्व-आत्मानम् केवलम्
of all The Soul, The One,
ज्ञप्ति-मात्रम्
Inference alone,
विश्व-उत्पत्ति
of the universe, the origin,
स्थान-संरोध-हेतुम्
sustenance, and distruction The Cause,
यत्-तत् ब्रह्म
which that The Brahman,
ब्रह्म-लिङ्गम् प्रशान्तम्
by the Vedas inferred, very peaceful
I bow down to You of infinite power, The Ruler of all, The very Soul of all, Inference alone, The Cause of the origin, sustenance and distruction of the universe, That which is The Brahman, inferred by the Vedas, the very peaceful.
कालो दैवं कर्म जीव: स्वभावो द्रव्यं क्षेत्रं प्राण आत्मा विकार: ।
तत्सङ्घातो बीजरोहप्रवाहस्त्वन्मायैषा तन्निषेधं प्रपद्ये ॥२६॥
काल: दैवम् कर्म जीव:
Time, Destiny, Karma, the soul,
स्वभाव: द्रव्यम् क्षेत्रम्
Swabhaava, the elements, body,
प्राण आत्मा विकार:
vital breath, ego, the evolutes,
तत्-सङ्घात:
by Whose association
बीज-रोह-प्रवाह:-
as seed sown, and grow,
त्वत्-माया-एषा
Your Maayaa it is,
तत्-निषेधम् प्रपद्ये
its negation (You) I salute
Time, Destiny, Karma, the soul, Swabhaava, the elements, body, vital breath, ego, the evolutes, by association with Whom, as seed are sown, and grow, is Your Maayaa. I salute to You, in Whom Maayaa is negated.
नानाभावैर्लीलयैवोपपन्नैर्देवान् साधूँल्लोकसेतून् बिभर्षि ।
हंस्युन्मार्गान् हिंसया वर्तमानान् जन्मैतत्ते भारहाराय भूमे: ॥२७॥
भार-हाराय भूमे:
नाना-भावै:-
sportingly only assumed
लीलया-एव-उपपन्नै:-
the gods and the pious (protect)
देवान् साधून्-
and the worlds' moral standards, uphold,
लोक-सेतून् बिभर्षि
kill the wayward
हंसि-उन्मार्गान्

जन्म-एतत्-ते
the burden to relieve of the earth
Only sportingly, You assume various forms and protect the gods and the virtuous, and uphold the standards of the morals of the world. This descent of Yours is to relieve the burden of the earth, by killing the waywards, and those living by violence.
तप्तोऽहं ते तेजसा दु:सहेन शान्तोग्रेणात्युल्बणेन ज्वरेण ।
तावत्तापो देहिनां तेऽङ्घ्रिमूलं नो सेवेरन् यावदाशानुबद्धा: ॥२८॥
यावत्-आशा-अनुबद्धा:
तप्त:-अहम् ते तेजसा
unbearable, mild, high,
दु:सहेन शान्त-उग्रेण-
very heated fever
अति-उल्बणेन ज्वरेण
till then the fever of the embodied beings
तावत्-ताप: देहिनाम्
Your feet soles do not serve
ते-अङ्घ्रि-मूलम् नो सेवेरन्
uptill by desires bounded
I am scorched by Your radiance, which is like the unbearable fever, first mild, then becomes high into a very heated fever. The fever of the embodied beings is till when they do not serve Your feet soles, and untill they are bounded by desires.
श्री भगवान्-उवाच -
त्रिशिरस्ते प्रसन्नोऽस्मि व्येतु ते मज्ज्वराद् भयम् ।
यो नौ स्मरति संवादं तस्य त्वन्न भवेद् भयम् ॥२९॥
त्रिशिर:-ते प्रसन्न:-अस्मि
’O Three headed One! With you I am pleased
व्येतु ते
may go away your
मत्-ज्वरात् भयम्
from my fever the fear
य: नौ स्मरति
who-so-ever remembers
संवादम् तस्य
the dialogue (this) his
त्वत्-न भवेद् भयम्
from you will not be fear
'O Three headed One! I am pleased with you. May the fear of My fever be gone for you. Who-so-ever remembers this dialogue of ours will have no fear of your fever.'
इत्युक्तोऽच्युतमानम्य गतो माहेश्वरो ज्वर: ।
बाणस्तु रथमारूढ: प्रागाद्योत्स्यञ्जनार्दनम् ॥३०॥
इति-उक्त:-
so told,
अच्युतम्-आनम्य
to The invincible Lord, bowing,
गत: माहेश्वर: ज्वर:
went away Maaheshwara fever
बाण:-तु रथम्-आरूढ:
Baana indeed on a chariot mounted
प्रागात्-योत्स्यन्-
came back to fight
जनार्दनम्
Krishna
So told, the Maaheshwara fever bowed to The Invincible Lord, and went away. Baanaa, indeed came back mounted on a chariot to fight with Shree Krishna.
ततो बाहुसहस्रेण नानायुधधरोऽसुर: ।
मुमोच परमक्रुद्धो बाणांश्चक्रायुधे नृप ॥३१॥
तत: बाहु-सहस्रेण
then, with arms a thousand,
नाना-आयुध-धर:-असुर:
various weapons upholding, the demon
मुमोच परम-क्रुद्ध:
charged, very much angered
बाणान्-चक्रायुधे
arrows on the discus Wielder, (Krishna)

O King!
O King! then, with a thousand arms upholding various weapons, the much angered demon charged arrows on the discus Wielder Krishna.
तस्यास्यतोऽस्त्राण्यसकृच्चक्रेण क्षुरनेमिना ।
चिच्छेद भगवान् बाहून् शाखा इव वनस्पते: ॥३२॥
तस्य-अस्यत:-

On his charging the weapons continuously, The Lord by the razor like sharp edged discus sheered off his arms, like the boughs of the trees.
बाहुषुच्छिद्यमानेषु बाणस्य भगवान् भव: ।
भक्तानुकम्प्युपव्रज्य चक्रायुधमभाषत ॥३३॥
बाहुषु-च्छिद्यमानेषु
on the arms being cut off
बाणस्य

भगवान् भव:
Lord Shankara,
भक्त-अनुकम्पी-उपव्रज्य
for the devotees compassionate, approached
चक्रायुधम्-अभाषत
The discus Wielder and said,...
On Baanaa's arms being cut off, Lord Shiva, compassionate on the devotees, approached the discus Wielder Krishna and said to Him,….
श्रीरुद्र उवाच -
Shree Rudra said -
त्वं हि ब्रह्म परं ज्योतिर्गूढं ब्रह्मणि वाङ्मये ।
यं पश्यन्त्यमलात्मान आकाशमिव केवलम् ॥३४॥
त्वम् हि ब्रह्म
You alone are Brahman,
परम् ज्योति:-गूढम्
the Supreme light, hidden,
ब्रह्मणि वाङ्मये
in the Vedas, (in words) described,
यम् पश्यन्ति-
Whome realize
अमल-आत्मान:
the pure souls
आकाशम्-इव केवलम्
the sky like absolute
You alone are Brahman, The Supreme effulgent hidden Light, described in words in the Vedas, Whom the pure souled realize, as the all pervading sky, and the absolute.
नाभिर्नभोऽग्निर्मुखमम्बु रेतो द्यौ: शीर्षमाशा श्रुतिरङ्घ्रिरुर्वी ।
चन्द्रो मनो यस्य दृगर्क आत्मा अहं समुद्रो जठरं भुजेन्द्र: ॥३५॥

navel, the sky,
अग्नि:-मुखम्-अम्बु रेत:
fire the mouth, water the generative fluid,
द्यौ: शीर्षम्-आशा श्रुति:-
heavens the head, the quarters the ears,
अङ्घ्रि:-उर्वी
the feet the earth,
चन्द्र: मन: यस्य
moon the mind Whose
दृक्-अर्क आत्मा अहम्
the eyes the sun, the ego, myself,
समुद्र: जठरम् भुजा-इन्द्र:
the ocean the belly, and the arms Indra
Your navel is the sky, Your mouth is fire, Your generative fluid is water, Your head the heavens, Your ears are the quarters,Your feet is the earth, Whose mind is the moon and the eyes is the sun, the ego is myself, the belly is the ocean and the arms is Indra.
रोमाणि यस्यौषधयोऽम्बुवाहा: केशा विरिञ्चो धिषणा विसर्ग: ।
प्रजापतिर्हृदयं यस्य धर्म: स वै भवान् पुरुषो लोककल्प: ॥३६॥
रोमाणि यस्य-औषधय:-
the bodily hair Whose are the herbs,
अम्बुवाहा: केशा:
the clouds, the hair,
विरिञ्च: धिषणा
Brahmaa, the intellect,
विसर्ग: प्रजापति:-
the generative organ Prajaapati,
हृदयम् यस्य धर्म:
the heart Whose is Dharma (god of virtue)
स: वै भवान्
That indeed You
पुरुष: लोक-कल्प:
are The Person the universe Personified
Whose bodily hair are the herbs and plants, the hair the clouds, the intellect Brahmaa, the generative organs Prajaapati, Whose heart is Dharma, the god of virtues, That You, indeed is the universe Personified.
तवावतारोऽयमकुण्ठधामन् धर्मस्य गुप्त्यै जगतो भवाय ।
वयं च सर्वे भवतानुभाविता विभावयामो भुवनानि सप्त ॥३७॥
तव-अवतार:-अयम्-
Your descent this
अकुण्ठधामन्
O Undimished Glory!
धर्मस्य गुप्त्यै
for righteousness to protect
जगत: भवाय
for the world's advancement
वयम् च सर्वे
we, and all
भवता-अनुभाविता:
by You energised
विभावयाम:
rule
भुवनानि सप्त
the regions seven
O Lord of undiminished glory! This descent of Yours is for the protection of the virtues and for the advancement of the world. We, drawing power from You, rule the seven regions.
त्वमेक आद्य: पुरुषोऽद्वितीयस्तुर्य: स्वदृग्घेतुरहेतुरीश: ।
प्रतीयसेऽथापि यथाविकारं स्वमायया सर्वगुणप्रसिद्ध्यै ॥३८॥
त्वम्-एक: आद्य: पुरुष:-
You are One, The Primary Person,
अद्वितीय:-तुर्य:
secondless, beyond the three states,
स्वदृक्-हेतु:-अहेतु:-ईश:
self-luminous, The Cause, Uncaused, The Ruler,
प्रतीयसे-अथ-अपि
is revealed yet also
यथा-विकारम्
as the diversities,
स्व-मायया
by own Maayaa
सर्व-गुण-प्रसिद्ध्यै
for all the Gunas' projection
You are The One, second-less Primary Person, beyond the three states, self-luminous, The Cause and Ruler of all, yet Uncaused, Who reveals Himself by His own Maayaa, as the diversities, to project the Gunas of Maayaa.
यथैव सूर्य: पिहितश्छायया स्वया छायां च रूपाणि च सञ्चकास्ति ।
एवं गुणेनापिहितो गुणांस्त्वमात्मप्रदीपो गुणिनश्च भूमन् ॥३९॥
यथा-एव सूर्य:
just as the sun
पिहित:-छायया स्वया
covered by shadow own
छायाम् च रूपाणि
the shadow and the forms
च सञ्चकास्ति
and discloses,
एवम् गुणेन-अपिहित:
like that, by the Gunas covered
गुणान्-त्वम्-
the Gunas You,
आत्म-प्रदीप:
The Self-effulgent
गुणिन:-च भूमन्
those qualified by the Gunas, O Perfect One!
O Perfect One! Just as the sun is covered by the shadow of the cloud and then discloses the shadow and the forms by its own light, like that, You, The self-effulgent, by the Gunas covered, reveal the Gunas and those qualified by the Gunas.
यन्मायामोहितधिय: पुत्रदारगृहादिषु ।
उन्मज्जन्ति निमज्जन्ति प्रसक्ता वृजिनार्णवे ॥४०॥
यत्-माया-मोहित-धिय:
by that Maayaa deluded minded,
पुत्र-दार-गृह-आदिषु
in son, wife, house and other
उन्मज्जन्ति निमज्जन्ति
sink and float
प्रसक्ता: वृजिन-अर्णवे
attached, in misery ocean
By that Maayaa of Yours, the delusion minded people get attached to son, wife, house and other things, and keep sinking and floating in the ocean of misery.
देवदत्तमिमं लब्ध्वा नृलोकमजितेन्द्रिय: ।
यो नाद्रियेत त्वत्पादौ स शोच्यो ह्यात्मवञ्चक: ॥४१॥
देव-दत्तम्-इमम् लब्ध्वा
by (You) The Lord granted this, having obtained
नृ-लोकम्-
the human body,
अजित-इन्द्रिय:
not controlling the senses,
य: न-आद्रियेत
who, does not honour
त्वत्-पादौ
Your feet
स: शोच्य:
he is to be pitied,
हि-आत्म-वञ्चक:
indeed is self deceiting
The person who does not honour You feet, having attained this human body granted by You, The Lord, and does not control his senses, is indeed to be pitied, as he is self deceitful.
यस्त्वां विसृजते मर्त्य आत्मानं प्रियमीश्वरम् ।
विपर्ययेन्द्रियार्थार्थं विषमत्त्यमृतं त्यजन् ॥४२॥
य:-त्वाम् विसृजते
the one who You negelects
मर्त्य: आत्मानम्
mortal, The Self,
प्रियम्-ईश्वरम्
The beloved Lord,
विपर्यय-इन्द्रिय-अर्थ-अर्थम्
the opposite (of You), for sense objects desire
विषम्-अत्ति-
poison eats,
अमृतम् त्यजन्
nectar rejecting
That mortal who neglects You, The Self, The Beloved Lord, and desires sense objects, which are opposite of You, he, rejecting nectar eats poison.
अहं ब्रह्माथ विबुधा मुनयश्चामलाशया: ।
सर्वात्मना प्रपन्नास्त्वामात्मानं प्रेष्ठमीश्वरम् ॥४३॥
अहम् ब्रह्म-अथ विबुधा:
myself, Brahmaa, then, the gods,
मुनय:-च-अमल-आशया:
sages and of pure minds,
सर्व-आत्मना प्रपन्ना:-
whole heartedly are surrendered
त्वाम्-आत्मानम्
to You The Self,
प्रेष्ठम्-ईश्वरम्
The Beloved, The Ruler
Myself, Brahmaa, the gods and the pure minded sages, have surrendered to You whole heartedly, as You are The Self, The Beloved and The Ruler.
तं त्वा जगत्स्थित्युदयान्तहेतुं समं प्रशान्तं सुहृदात्मदैवम् ।
अनन्यमेकं जगदात्मकेतं भवापवर्गाय भजाम देवम् ॥४४॥
तम् त्वा जगत्-स्थिति-
That, You, of the universe, subsistence,
उदय-अन्त-हेतुम्
creation, distruction The Cause,
समम् प्रशान्तम्
equal to all, very tranquil,
सुहृद्-आत्म-दैवम्
Friend, Self, Diety,
अनन्यम्-एकम्
without a second, The One,
जगत्-आत्म-केतम्
of the world the support and resort
भव-अपवर्गाय
for the worldly bondage to dissolve
भजाम देवम्
propitiate The Lord
To That You, The Lord, The Cause of the creation, subsistence and distruction of the universe, equal to all, very tranquil, The Friend, The Diety, The One, without a second, The Support and The Resort of the world, we propitiate to dissolve the worldly bondage.
अयं ममेष्टो दयितोऽनुवर्ती मयाभयं दत्तममुष्य देव ।
सम्पाद्यतां तद् भवत: प्रसादो यथा हि ते दैत्यपतौ प्रसाद: ॥४५॥
अयम् मम-इष्ट:
this, (Baanaasura) is my dear,
दयित:-अनुवर्ती
loving and obedient,
मया-अभयम् दत्तम्-
by me protection is given
अमुष्य देव
to him, O Lord!
सम्पाद्यताम्
may be arranged so
तद् भवत: प्रसाद:
that by Your pleasure
यथा हि ते
just as indeed by Your
दैत्य-पतौ प्रसाद:
on the demon king (Prahalaad) grace
O Lord! This Baanaasura, is dear devotee, loving and obedient to me. He has been promised protection from me. So, may You extend Your grace and favour for him, as You did for the Ruler of the Daityas, Prahalaada.
श्री भगवान्-उवाच -
The Lord said -
यदात्थ भगवंस्त्वन्न: करवाम प्रियं तव ।
भवतो यद् व्यवसितं तन्मे साध्वनुमोदितम् ॥४६॥
यत्-आत्थ भगवन्-
what (you) said, O Honourable One!
त्वम्-न: करवाम
you, We will do
प्रियम् तव
pleasing to you
भवत: यत् व्यवसितम्
by you that which is arranged
तत्-मे साधु-
that to me is good,
अनुमोदितम्
and approved
O Honourable One! That what you have said We will do so, which pleases you. Whatever is decided by you, (for him) is good according to me, and I approve of it.
अवध्योऽयं ममाप्येष वैरोचनिसुतोऽसुर: ।
प्रह्रादाय वरो दत्तो न वध्यो मे तवान्वय: ॥४७॥
अवध्य:-अयम्
not to be killed is he
मम्-अपि-एष
by Me also he,
वैरोचनि-सुत:-असुर:
to The Vairochana's son,
प्रह्रादाय वर: दत्त:
Prahalaada, boon was given
न वध्य: मे
not to be killed by Me
तव-अन्वय:
is the one born in your race
He is not to be killed by Me also. Virochana's son Prahalaada was given the boon by Me, that no one born in his race will be killed by Me.
दर्पोपशमनायास्य प्रवृक्णा बाहवो मया ।
सूदितं च बलं भूरि यच्च भारायितं भुव: ॥४८॥
दर्प:-उपशमनाय-अस्य
arrogance to submit, his,
प्रवृक्णा: बाहव: मया
cut off the arms by Me
सूदितम् च बलम्
killed and the army
भूरि यत्-च
great which was and
भारायितम् भुव:
burden to the earth
To suppress his arrogance, his arms were cut off by Me, and his army was killed which was a great burden to the earth.
चत्वारोऽस्य भुजा: शिष्टा भविष्यन्त्यजरामरा: ।
पार्षदमुख्यो भवतो नकुतस्चिद्भयोऽसुर: ॥४९॥
चत्वार:-अस्य
four of his
भुजा: शिष्टा:
arms remain,
भविष्यन्ति-अजरा-अमरा:
will become undecaying and deathless
पार्षद-मुख्य: भवत:
attendent main your
न-कुत:-चित्-
not from anywhere
भय:-असुर:
fear to the demon
Four of his arms remain, which will be decay-less and death-less. He will be your main attendent and will not have to fear from any where.
इति लब्ध्वाभयं कृष्णं प्रणम्य शिरसासुर: ।
प्राद्युम्निं रथमारोप्य सवध्वा समुपानयत् ॥५०॥
इति लब्ध्वा-अभयम्
thus, getting security
कृष्णम् प्रणम्य
to Krishna bowed,
शिरसा-असुर:
with head, the demon,
प्राद्युम्निम् रथम्-
Pradyumna's son, on the chariot
आरोप्य सवध्वा
placing, with the bride,
समुपानयत्
duly brought
The demon, thus getting the assurance of security, duly brought back Pradyumna's son Aniruddha and the bride, placing them on a chariot.
अक्षौहिण्या परिवृतं सुवास:समलङ्कृतम् ।
सपत्नीकं पुरस्कृत्य ययौ रुद्रानुमोदित: ॥५१॥
अक्षौहिण्या परिवृतं
by the akshauhinee surrounded,
सुवास:समलङ्कृतम्
well dressed, and wellornamented,'
सपत्नीकं
with the wife,
पुरस्कृत्य ययौ
in front, went,
रुद्रानुमोदित:
by Rudra congratulated
Then, Shree Krishna, congratulated by Lord Shiva, went surrounded by the akshauhinee army, took with Him, the well dressed and well ornamented Aniruddha, along with his wife.
स्वराजधानीं समलङ्कृतां ध्वजै: सतोरणैरुक्षितमार्गचत्वराम् ।
विवेश शङ्खानकदुन्दुभिस्वनैरभ्युद्यत: पौरसुहृद्द्विजातिभि: ॥५२॥
स्व-राजधानीम् समलङ्कृताम्
own capital well adorned
ध्वजै: सतोरणै:-
with phastoons, and arches,
उक्षित-मार्ग-चत्वराम्
sprinkled with water the four road crossings
विवेश शङ्ख-आनक-दुन्दुभि-
entered with conch, drum, trumpet
स्वनै:-अभ्युद्यत:
sounds, ushered by
पौर-सुहृत्-द्विजातिभि:
the citizens, friends and Braahmins
He entered His capital which was well adorned with flags and arches, with the pathways and crossings sprinkled with water, and the conch drum and trumpets were sounded as He was received by the citizens, friends and Braahmins.
य एवं कृष्णविजयं शङ्करेण च संयुगम् ।
संस्मरेत् प्रातरुत्थाय न तस्य स्यात् पराजय: ॥५३॥
य: एवम् कृष्ण-विजयम्
(one) who such Krishna's victory
शङ्करेण च संयुगम्
with Lord Shiva and combat
संस्मरेत् प्रात:-उत्थाय
remembers, in the morning awaking
न तस्य
not his
स्यात् पराजय:
will be defeat
One who wakes up early in the morning and remembers this victory of Shree Krishna and the combat with Lord Shiva, he will not be defeated.
इति श्रीमद्भागवते महापुराणे पारमहंस्यां संहितायां
दशमस्कन्धे उत्तरार्धे अनिरुद्धानयनं
नाम् त्रिष्ष्टितमोऽध्याय: ॥६३॥
