श्रीमद्भागवतमहापुराणम् द्वादश: स्कन्ध: प्रथम: अध्याय: स्वधामानुगते कृष्णे यदुवंशविभूषणे ।
कस्य वंशोऽभवत् पृथ्व्यामेतदाचक्ष्व मे मुने ॥१॥
स्व-धाम-अनुगते कृष्णे to own realm having gone, Krishna,
राजा-उवाच - The King said - यदु-वंश-विभूषणे of the Yadu clan the jewel, कस्य वंश:-अभवत् पृथ्व्याम्- whose line came on the earth एतत्-आचक्ष्व मे मुने this tell me, O Sage! After Krishna, the jewel of the Yadu's line had gone away to His own realm, which clan came on the earth, this tell me, O Sage!


योऽन्त्य: पुरञ्जयो नाम भाव्यो बार्हद्रथो नृप ।
तस्यामात्यस्तु शुनको हत्वा स्वामिनमात्मजम् ॥२॥
श्री शुक-उवाच - Shree Shuka said -
य:-अन्त्य: पुरञ्जय: नाम he, who, the last to be, Puranjaya by name,
भाव्य: बार्हद्रथ: नृप will be, of the Brihadratha, O King! तस्य-आमात्य:-तु शुनक: his minister, indeed, Shunaka, हत्वा स्वामिनम्-आत्मजम् assassinating the master, own son,.. O King! Of the Brihadratha, the last to be, will be Puranjaya by name. Indeed he will assassinate his master and his own son,….


प्रद्योतसंज्ञं राजानं कर्ता यत् पालक: सुत: ।
विशाखयूपस्तत्पुत्रो भविता राजकस्तत: ॥३॥
प्रद्योत-संज्ञम् राजानम् कर्ता Pradyota named, king will make,
यत् पालक: सुत: whose Paalaka, the son, विशाखयूप:-तत्-पुत्र: Vishaakhyupa, his son, भविता राजक:-तत: will be Raajaka, (the son) then Pradyota named son will install as king. His son will be, Paalaka, and his son Vishaakhyupa will be, and his son will be Raajaka.


नन्दिवर्धनस्तत्पुत्र: पञ्च प्रद्योतना इमे ।
अष्टत्रिंशोत्तरशतं भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीं नृपा: ॥४॥
नन्दिवर्धन:-तत्-पुत्र: Nandivardhana, his son,
पञ्च प्रद्योतना इमे the five Pradyotanas, these, अष्ट-त्रिंश-उत्तर-शतम् eight, thirty, more hundred (138) भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीम् नृपा: will rule the earth, the kings His son, will be Nandivardhana. These five kings known as Pradyotanas, will rule the earth for one hundred and thirty eight years.



शिशुनागस्ततो भाव्य: काकवर्णस्तु तत्सुत: ।
क्षेमधर्मा तस्य सुत: क्षेत्रज्ञ: क्षेमधर्मज: ॥५॥
शिशुनाग:-तत: भाव्य: Shishunaaga after that will be,
काकवर्ण:-तु तत्-सुत: Kaakavarna, indeed, his son, क्षेमधर्मा तस्य सुत: Kshemdharmaa, his son, क्षेत्रज्ञ: क्षेमधर्म-ज: Kshetragya, will be Kshemdharmaa born of After that, the king will be Shishunaaga, his son will be, Kaakavarna, his son will be Kshemdharmaa, and of Kshemdharmaa will be born Kshetragya.


विधिसार: सुतस्तस्याजातशत्रुर्भविष्यति ।
दर्भकस्तत्सुतो भावी दर्भकस्याजय: स्मृत: ॥६॥
विधिसार: सुत:-तस्य- Vidhisaara, the son, his,
अजातशत्रु:-भविष्यति Ajaatashatru will be, दर्भक:-तत्-सुत: भावी Darbhaka, his son will be, दर्भकस्य-अजय: स्मृत: of Darbhaka, Ajaya is known as His son will be Vidhisaara, and his son will be Ajaatashatru, and his son will be Darbhaka, and Darbhaka's son will be known as Ajaya.


नन्दिवर्धन आजेयो महानन्दि: सुतस्तत: ।
शिशुनागा दशैवैते षष्टयुत्तरशतत्रयम् ॥७॥
नन्दिवर्धन आजेय: Nandivardhana of Ajaya
महानन्दि: सुत:-तत: Mahaanandi son of his, शिशुनागा: दश-एव-एते the Shishunaagas ten only these, षष्टि-उत्तर-शत-त्रयम् sixty more hundreds three (360) Nandivardhana will be the son of Ajaya and his son will be Mahaanandi. Only these ten kings, the Shishunaagas, for three hundred and sixty years,….


समा भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीं कुरुश्रेष्ठ कलौ नृपा: ।
महानन्दिसुतो राजन् शूद्रीगर्भोद्भवो बली ॥८॥
समा:-भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीम् years, will rule the earth
कुरुश्रेष्ठ कलौ नृपा: O Foremost of the Kurus! In Kali, the kings महानन्दि-सुत: राजन् Mahaanandi's son, O King! शूद्री-गर्भ-उद्भव: बली of Shudra woman's womb born, the strong O King! Foremost of the Kurus! In Kaliyuga, these kings will rule the earth. Mahaanandi's son, the strong, born of a Shudra woman's womb,….


महापद्मपति: कश्चिन्नन्द: क्षत्रविनाशकृत् ।
ततो नृपा भविष्यन्ति शूद्रप्रायास्त्वधार्मिका: ॥९॥
महापद्म-पति: कश्चित्- of Mahaapadma (riches), the owner, some
नन्द: क्षत्र-विनाश-कृत् Nanda, of the Kshatriyas ruin's cause, तत: नृपा: भविष्यन्ति after that, the kings will be शूद्र-प्राया:-तु-अधार्मिका: Shudras mostly, indeed, unvirtuous Some Nandi, the owner of the riches Mahaapadma, will be the cause of the Kshatriyas' ruin. After that the kings will mostly be the Shudras, unvirtuous, indeed.


स एकच्छत्रां पृथिवीमनुल्लङ्घितशासन: ।
शासिष्यति महापद्मो द्वितीय इव भार्गव: ॥१०॥
स: एकच्छत्राम् पृथिवीम्- he, under one sceptre, the earth
अनुल्लङ्घित-शासन: uninterrupted will be the ruler शासिष्यति महापद्म: ruling, the Mahaapadma, द्वितीय इव भार्गव: second like Bhrigu's son (Parashuraama) He, the Mahaapadma, under one sceptre, will rule the earth uninterrupted, like a second Parashuraama, the son of Bhrigu.


तस्य चाष्टौ भविष्यन्ति सुमाल्यप्रमुखा: सुता: ।
य इमां भोक्ष्यन्ति महीं राजान: स्म शतं समा: ॥११॥
तस्य च-अष्टौ भविष्यन्ति his, and eight, will be
सुमाल्य-प्रमुखा: सुता: Sumaalya the eldest, sons य: इमाम् भोक्ष्यन्ति महीम् who this will rule, the earth, राजान: स्म शतम् समा: the kings, for hundred years His will be eight sons, the eldest will be Sumaalya. These kings will rule the earth for hundred years.


नव नन्दान् द्विज: कश्चित् प्रपन्नानुद्धरिष्यति ।
तेषामभावे जगतीं मौर्या भोक्ष्यन्ति वै कलौ ॥१२॥

नव नन्दान् द्विज: कश्चित् the nine Nandas, a Braahmana, some,
प्रपन्नान्-उद्धरिष्यति the unagreeables, will uproot, तेषाम्-अभावे जगतीम् in their absence, the earth मौर्या: भोक्ष्यन्ति वै कलौ the Mauryas will rule indeed in Kaliyuga The nine Nandas, on their being disagreeable, will be uprooted by a certain Braahmana, Chaanakya. In their absence, the earth will be ruled by the Mauryas in Kaliyuga.


स एव चन्द्रगुप्तं वै द्विजो राज्येऽभिषेक्ष्यति ।
तत्सुतो वारिसारस्तु ततश्चाशोकवर्धन: ॥१३॥
स: एव चन्द्रगुप्तम् वै he only, Chandragupta, indeed,
द्विज: राज्ये-अभिषेक्ष्यति Braahmana, on the throne will install, तत्-सुत: वारिसार:-तु his son Vaarisaara, indeed, तत:-च-अशोकवर्धन: from him and Ashokavardhana That Braahmana alone, will install Chandragupta on the throne. His son will be Vaarisaara, and from him will be born Ashokavardhana.


सुयशा भविता तस्य सङ्गत: सुयश:सुत: ।
शालिशूकस्ततस्तस्य सोमशर्मा भविष्यति ॥१४॥
सुयशा भविता तस्य Suyashaa, will be his
सङ्गता सुयस: सुता: Sangataa of Suyasha, the sons, शालिशूक:-तत:-तस्य Shaalishooka, then, his, सोमशर्मा भविष्यति Somasharmaa will be His son will be Suyasha, and of Suyasha the sons will be Sangataa. Then, his son will be Shaalishooka, and his son will be Somasharmaa.


शतधन्वा ततस्तस्य भविता तद् वृहद्रथ: ।
मौर्या ह्येते दश नृपा: सप्तत्रिंशच्छतोत्तरम् ।
समा भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीम् कलौ कुरुकुलोद्वह ॥१५॥
शतधन्वा तत:-तस्य Shatadhanvaa from him, his
भविता तद् वृहद्रथ: will be that Brihadratha मौर्या: हि-एते दश नृपा: Mauryas indeed these, ten kings, सप्त-त्रिंशत्-शत-उत्तरम् seven thirty hundred more (137) समा भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीम् years will rule the earth कलौ कुरु-कुल-उद्वह in Kaliyuga, O of Kuru's line the jewel! From him Shatadhanvaa will be born, and his son will be that Bridhadratha. These ten kings of the Mauryas will rule the earth for one hundred and thirty seven years, in Kaliyuga, O of Kuru's line the jewel!


हत्वा वृहद्रथम् मौर्यं तस्य सेनापति: कलौ ।
पुष्यमित्रस्तु शुङ्गाह्व: स्वयम् राज्यम् करिष्यति ।
अग्निमित्रस्ततस्तस्मात् सुज्येष्ठोऽथ भविष्यति ॥१६॥
हत्वा वृहद्रथम् मौर्यम् assassinating Brihadratha, the Mauryas,
तस्य सेनापति: कलौ his army general, in Kaliyuga, पुष्यमित्र:-तु शुङ्ग-अह्व: Pushyamitra, indeed, Shunga named, स्वयम् राज्यम् करिष्यति himself will rule अग्निमित्र:-तत:-तस्मात् Agnimitra will be then, from him, सुज्येष्ठ:-अथ भविष्यति Sujyeshtha then will be O Jewel of the Kuru's line! In Kaliyuga all these kings will rule. Assassinating Brihadratha, the Mauryas, his army general, Shunga by name, will himself rule. From him Agnimitra will be born, then from him Sujyeshtha will be born.


वसुमित्रो भद्रकश्च पुलिन्दो भविता तत: ।
ततो घोष: सुतस्तस्माद् वज्रमित्रो भविष्यति ॥१७॥
वसुमित्र: भद्रक:-च Vasumitra will be his son, then Bhadraka, and
पुलिन्द: भविता तत: Pulindaas, will be from him, तत: घोष: सुत:-तस्मात् from him Ghosha son, from him वज्रमित्र: भविष्यति Vajramitra will be Sujyestha's son will be Vasumitra, his son will be Bhadraka, and then from him, the son Pulindaas, from him, a son Ghosha, and from him will be born Vajramitra.


ततो भागवतस्तस्माद् देवभूतिरिति श्रुत: ।
शुङ्गा दशैते भोक्ष्यन्ति भूमिं वर्षशताधिकम् ॥१८॥
तत: भागवत:-तस्मात् from him, Bhaagavata, from him
देवभूति:-इति श्रुत: Devabhooti, so, known, शुङ्गा दश-एते भोक्ष्यन्ति Shungas, ten these will enjoy भूमिम् वर्ष-शत-अधिकम् the earth, years hundreds more From him will be born Bhaagavata, and from him, who is known as Devabhooti. These ten Shungas will enjoy the earth for more than a hundred years.


तत: कण्वानियं भूमिर्यास्यत्यल्पगुणान् नृप ।
शुङ्गं हत्वा देवभूतिं कण्वोऽमात्यस्तु कामिनम् ॥१९॥
तत: कण्वान्-इयम् भूमि:- after that, to Kanvas this earth
यास्यति-अल्प-गुणान् नृप will go, the scanty merited, O King! शुङ्गम् हत्वा देवभूतिम् Shunga, having killed, to Devabhooti, कण्व:-अमात्य:-तु कामिनम् the Kanva minister, indeed, the lewd, O king! After that, the earth will go to the scanty merited Kanvas. Having killed Devabhooti, the lewd Kanva minister, of the Shungas,….


स्वयं करिष्यते राज्यं वसुदेवो महामति: ।
तस्य पुत्रस्तु भूमित्रस्तस्य नारायण: सुत: ।
नारायणस्य भविता सुशर्मा नाम विश्रुत: ॥२०॥
स्वयम् करिष्यते राज्यम् will himself rule the kingdom
वसुदेव: महामति: Vasudeva, the very clever तस्य पुत्र:-तु भूमित्र:- his son, indeed Bhoomitra, तस्य नारायण: सुत: his, Naaraayana, the son, नारायणस्य भविता of Naaraayana will be सुशर्मा नाम विश्रुत: Susharmaa named, well known Vasudeva, the very clever will himself rule the kingdom. His son, indeed will be Bhoomitra, and his son will be Naaraayana, and of Naaraayana will be the well known son named Susharmaa.


काण्वायना इमे भूमिं चत्वारिंशच्च पञ्च च ।
शतानि त्रीणि भोक्ष्यन्ति वर्षाणां च कलौ युगे ॥२१॥
काण्वायना: इमे भूमिम् the Kanvas, this earth
चत्वारिंशत्-च पञ्च च for forty and five and शतानि त्रीणि भोक्ष्यन्ति hundreds three, will enjoy वर्षाणाम् च कलौ युगे for years and in Kaliyuga The Kanvas will enjoy this earth for three hundred and forty five years, in Kali yuga.


हत्वा काण्वं सुशर्माणं तद्भृत्यो वृषलो बली ।
गां भोक्ष्यत्यन्ध्रजातीय: कञ्चित् कालमसत्तम: ॥२२॥
हत्वा काण्वम् सुशर्माणम् killing the Kanva Susharmaa,
तत्-भृत्य: वृषल: बली his servant, Vrishala, the mighty गाम् भोक्ष्यति-अन्ध्र-जातीय: the earth will enjoy, of Andhra cast कञ्चित् कालम्-असत्तम: some, for sometime, the wicked After killing the Kanva Susharmaa, his own servant, the mighty and wicked Vrishala of some Andhra cast, will enjoy the earth for some time.


कृष्णनामाथ तद्भ्राता भविता पृथिवीपति: ।
श्रीशान्तकर्णस्तत्पुत्र: पौर्णमासस्तु तत्सुत: ॥२३॥
कृष्ण-नाम-अथ तत्-भ्राता Krishna named, then, his brother
भविता पृथिवीपति: will be the earth's king, श्रीशान्तकर्ण:-तत्-पुत्र: Shreeshaantakarna, his son, पौर्णमास:-तु तत्-सुत: Poornamaasa indeed his son Then, his brother named Krishna will rule the earth. His son will be Shreeshaantakarna, and his son will be Poornamaasa, indeed.


लम्बोदरस्तु तत्पुत्रस्तस्माच्चिबिलको नृप: ।
मेघस्वानिश्चिबिलकादटमानस्तु तस्य च ॥२४॥
लम्बोदर:-तु तत्-पुत्र:- Lambodara, indeed his son,
तस्मात्-चिबिलक: नृप: from him Chibilaka, the king, मेघस्वानि:-चिबिलकात्- Meghasvaani from Chibilaka अटमान:-तु तस्य च Atamaana indeed his and His son will indeed be Lambodara, and his son will be Chibilaka, the king. From Chibilika will be Meghasvaani and his son will be Atamaana.


अनिष्टकर्मा हालेयस्तलकस्तस्य चात्मज: ।
पुरीषभीरुस्तत्पुत्रस्ततो राजा सुनन्दन: ॥२५॥
अनिष्टकर्मा हालेय:- Anishtakarma, Haaleya,
तलक:-तस्य च-आत्मज: Talaka, his and son पुरीषभीरु:-तत्-पुत्र:- Pureeshbheeru his son, तत: राजा सुनन्दन: then the king Sunandana Anishtakarmaa, then Haaleya, and his son Talaka, his son Pureeshbheeru, and then king Sunandana.


चकोरो बहवो यत्र शिवस्वातिररिन्दम: ।
तस्यापि गोमतीपुत्र: पुरीमान् भविता तत: ॥२६॥
चकोर: बहव: यत्र Chakoras, the Bhavas where,
शिवस्वाति:-अरिन्दम: Shivaswati, the foe chastiser तस्य-अपि गोमतीपुत्र: his also Gomatiputra, पुरीमान् भविता तत: Purimaan will be from him Chakora, his sons the Bahavas, eight the last Shivaswati will be the foe chastiser. And also his son will be Gomatiputra, from him will be the son Purimaan.


मेद:शिरा: शिवस्कन्दो यज्ञश्रीस्तत्सुतस्तत: ।
विजयस्तत्सुतो भाव्यश्चन्द्रविज्ञ: सलोमधि: ॥२७॥
मेद:शिरा: शिवस्कन्द: Medashiraa, Shivaskanda,
यज्ञश्री:-तत्-सुत:-तत: Yagyashree, his son, from him विजय:-तत्-सुत: भाव्य:- Vijaya, his sons will be चन्द्रविज्ञ: सलोमधि: Chandravigya, Lomadhee His son Medashiraa, his son Shivaskanda, Yagyashree will be born from him, and from him, Vijaya, and his sons will be Chandravigya and Lomadhee.


एते त्रिंशन्नृपतयश्चत्वार्यब्दशतानि च ।
षट्पञ्चाशच्च पृथिवीं भोक्ष्यन्ति कुरुनन्दन ॥२८॥
एते त्रिंशत्-नृपतय:- these, thirty kings
चत्वारि-अब्द-शतानि च four years hundreds and षट्-पञ्चाशत्-च पृथिवीम् six fifty and the earth, भोक्ष्यन्ति कुरुनन्दन will rule, O of Kurus the delight! O Delight of Kurus! These thirty kings will rule the earth for four hundred and fifty six years.


सप्ताभीरा आवभृत्या दश गर्दभिनो नृपा: ।
कङ्का षोडश भूपाला भविष्यन्त्यतिलोलुपा: ॥२९॥
सप्त-अभीरा: आवभृत्या seven Abhiras, of Avabhriti
दश गर्दभिन: नृपा: and ten Gardabhi kings कङ्का: षोडश भूपाला: Kankas sixteen kings भविष्यन्ति-अति-लोलुपा: will be very greedy Of Avabhriti city, seven Abhira and ten Gardabhi kings, and sixteen Kanka kings will be very greedy.


ततोऽष्टौ यवना भाव्याश्चतुर्दश तुरुष्कका: ।
भूयो दश गुरुण्डाश्च मौना एकादशैव तु ॥३०॥
तत:-अष्टौ यवना: भाव्या: then eight Yavanas will be,
चतुर्दश: तुरुष्कका: fourteen Turushkakas, भूय: दश गुरुण्डा:-च again ten Gurundas and मौना: एकादश-एव तु Maunas eleven only indeed Then, there will be eight Yavanas, fourteen Turushkakas, again, ten Gurundas, and Maunas eleven only indeed.


एते भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीं दशवर्षशतानि च ।
नवाधिकां च नवतिं मौना एकादश क्षितिम् ॥३१॥
एते भोक्ष्यन्ति पृथिवीम् these will rule the earth
दश-वर्ष-शतानि च ten years hundreds and नव-अधिकाम् च नवतिम् nine more and ninety मौना: एकादश क्षितिम् Maunas eleven the earth These will rule the earth for one thousand and ninety nine years, and the Maunas will rule the earth for eleven years.


भोक्ष्यन्त्यब्दशतान्यङ्ग त्रीणि तै: संस्थिते तत: ।
किलिकिलायां नृपतयो भूतनन्दोऽथ वङ्गिरि: ॥३२॥
भोक्ष्यन्ति-अब्द-शताननि-अङ्ग will rule for years hundreds, O Dear Pareekshit!
त्रीणि तै: संस्थिते तत: three, they cease to be, then, किलिकिलायाम् नृपतय: in Kilikilaa, the kings भूतनन्द:-अथ वङ्गिरि: Bhootananda then Vangiri O Dear Pareekshit! They will rule for three hundred years. When they cease to be, then, in Kilikila city, the kings Bhootananda and the Vangiri,….


शिशुनन्दिश्च तद्भ्राता यज्ञोनन्दि: प्रवीरका: ।
इत्येते वै वर्षशतं भविष्यन्त्यधिकानि षट् ॥३३॥
शिशुनन्दिन्-च तत्-भ्राता Shishunandin, and his brother,
यज्ञोनन्दि: प्रवीरका: Yagyonandi, Praveeraka, इति-एते वै वर्ष-शतम् thus these, indeed for years hundred भविष्यन्ति-अधिकानि षट् will be more six Sishunandi and his brother, Yagyonandi, Praveeraka, thus, these will rule for hundred and six more years.


तेषां त्रयोदश सुता भवितारश्च बाह्लिका: ।
पुष्पमित्रोऽथ राजन्यो दुर्मित्रोऽस्य तथैव च ॥३४॥
तेषाम् त्रयोदश सुता: of them thirteen sons
भवितार:-च बाह्लिका: will be and Baahlikas, पुष्पमित्रो:-अथ राजन्य: of Pushpamitra then the Kshatriya दुर्मित्र:-अस्य तथा-एव च Durmitra his, also and Of them there will be thirteen sons, known as the Baahlikas. Then there will be the Kshatriya Pushpamitra, and also his son Durmitra.


एककाला इमे भूपा: सप्तान्ध्रा: सप्त कोसला: ।
विदूरपतयो भाव्या निषधास्तत एव हि ॥३५॥
एक-काला: इमे भूपा: at one time, these kings
सप्त-आन्ध्रा: सप्त कोसला: seven of Aandhra, seven of Kosala, विदूर-पतय: भाव्या: the Vidoora kings, will be निषधा:-तत: एव हि of Nishadhaa from them only indeed These kings, seven of Aandhra, seven of Kosala, will be ruling at the same time. From the Baahlikas only there will also be Vidoora kings and those from Nishadhaa.


मागधानां तु भविता विश्वस्फूर्जि: पुरञ्जय: ।
करिष्यत्यपरो वर्णान् पुलिन्दयदुमद्रकान् ॥३६॥
मागधानाम् तु भविता of the Maagadhaas indeed will be
विश्वस्फूर्जि: पुरञ्जय: Vishvasphoorji, Punranjaya, करिष्यति-अपर: वर्णान् will convert the higher casts पुलिन्द-यदु-भद्रकान् into Pulinda, Yadu and Bhadrakas Vishvasphoorji, the second Punranjaya, indeed will be of the Maagadhaas. He will convert the upper casts, the Braahmanas into Pulindas, Yadus and Bharakas.


प्रजाश्चाब्रह्मभूयिष्ठा: स्थापयिष्यति दुर्मति: ।
वीर्यवान् क्षत्रमुत्साद्य पद्मवत्यां स वै पुरि ।
अनुगङ्गामाप्रयागं गुप्तां भोक्ष्यति मेदिनीम् ॥३७॥
प्रजा:-च-अब्रह्म-भूयिष्ठा: public and non-Braahmanas, mainly,
स्थापयिष्यति दुर्मति: will establish, the evil minded, वीर्यवान् क्षत्रम्-उत्साद्य the mighty the Kshatriyas usurping, पद्मवत्याम् स: वै पुरि in Padmaavati, he, indeed, the city, अनुगङ्गाम्-आप्रयागम् along the Ganges, till Prayaaga, गुप्ताम् भोक्ष्यति मेदिनीम् guarded, will rule the earth He, the evil minded and mighty, will render the public to be mainly, of non-Braahmanas, and usurping the Kshatriyas, in the city of Padmaavati, will rule the well guarded earth along the Ganges, from Haridwaara up to Prayaaga.


सौरष्ट्रावन्त्याभीराश्च शूरा अर्बुदमालवा: ।
व्रात्या द्विजा भविष्यन्ति शूद्रप्राया जनाधिपा: ॥३८॥
सौरष्ट्र-अवन्त्य-अभीरा:-च of Sauraashtra, Avantis, Aabheeraas and
शूरा: अर्बुद-मालवा: Shooras, Arbudas and Maalavas, व्रात्या: द्विजा भविष्यन्ति lowly the Braahmanas will become शूद्र-प्राया: जनाधिपा: Shudras almost the kings The Braahmanas of Sauraashtra, Avanti, Abheera, Shoora, Arbuda and Maalava, will become lowly, without the sacred Sanskaras, and the kings will almost be Shudras.


सिन्धोस्तटं चन्द्रभागां कौन्तीं काश्मीरमण्डलम् ।
भोक्ष्यन्ति शूद्रा व्रात्याद्या म्लेच्छाश्चाब्रह्मवर्चस: ॥३९॥
सिन्धो:-तटम् चन्द्रभागाम् the Sindhu banks and of Chandrabhaagaa
कौन्तीम् काश्मीर-मण्डलम् Kaunti and the Kashmir territory भोक्ष्यन्ति शूद्रा व्रात्याद्या will rule the Shudras, the fallen Braahmanas म्लेच्छा:-च-अब्रह्म-वर्चस: Mlechchas and devoid of Vedic course The fallen Braahmanas, and the Mlechchas, devoid of Vedic course, will rule the banks of the Indus and the Chandrabhaaga rivers and the city of Kaunti and the territory of Kashmir.


तुल्यकाला इमे राजन् म्लेच्छप्रायाश्च भूभृत: ।
एतेऽधर्मानृतपरा: फल्गुदास्तीव्रमन्यव: ॥४०॥
तुल्य-काला: इमे राजन् of same time, these, O King!
म्लेच्छ-प्राया:-च भूभृत: Mlechchas almost, and the kings एते-अधर्म-अनृत-परा: these, unrighteousness, falsehood inclined फल्गुदा:-तीव्र-मन्यव: poor givers, and short tempered O King! These kings the contemporaries, will be almost Mlechchas. They will be given to unrighteousness and falsehood, and will be poor givers and short tempered.


स्त्रीबालगोद्विजघ्नाश्च परदारधनादृता: ।
उदितास्तमितप्राया अल्पसत्त्वाल्पकायुष: ॥४१॥
स्त्री-बाल-गो-द्विज-घ्ना:-च of women, children, cows, Braahmanas killers, and
पर-दार-धन-आदृता: others wives and wealth coveters उदिता-अस्तमित-प्राया: now rising now setting like अल्प-सत्त्व-अल्पक-आयुष: of little strength, and short lived They will be the killers of women, children, cows, Braahmanas, and will covet others wives and wealth. They will have little strength and courage and will be short lived.


असंस्कृता: क्रियाहीना रजसा तमसाऽऽवृता: ।
प्रजास्ते भक्षयिष्यन्ति म्लेच्छा राजन्यरूपिण: ॥४२॥
असंस्कृता: क्रिया-हीना: devoid of rites, righteous actions
रजसा तमसा-आवृता: by Rajas and Tamas covered, प्रजा:-ते भक्षयिष्यन्ति the public, they, will suck म्लेच्छा: राजन्य-रूपिण: the Mlechchas, in kings garbs They, the Mlechchas, devoid of purificatory rites, and righteous actions, covered by Rajas and Tamas, in the garb of kings, will suck the blood of the public.


तन्नाथास्ते जनपदास्तच्छीलाचारवादिन: ।
अन्योन्यतो राजभिश्च क्षयं यास्यन्ति पीडिता: ॥४३॥
तत्-नाथा:-ते जनपदा:- their masters, those people
तत्-शील-आचार-वादिन: their behaviour, ways of life, and talks अन्य-अन्यत: राजभि:-च by one another and from the kings क्षयम् यास्यन्ति पीडिता: to ruin will go oppressed Those people, oppressed by their masters' the king's, following one another's', habits and ways of life, manner of speech, will go to ruin.


इति श्रीमद्भागवते महापुराणे पारमहंस्यां संहितायां द्वादशस्कन्धे प्रथम: अध्याय: ॥१॥
Thus ends the first discourse in Book Twelve of the great and glorious Bhaagavata-Puraana.
